- Orangi is a Karachi town consisting of an agglomeration of katchi abadis and has a population of 1.2 million
- The OPP was established in 1980 to overcome the constraints faced by the government in regularising and improving katchi abadis
- This objective of the Project was to:
- – Understand the problems of Orangi and their causes
- – Through action research develop solutions
- – Health
- – Education

Researching for my Masters Thesis on Municipality Solid Waste Management of Slum Settlement of Karachi , Gulshan-e-Sikanderabad and Sirine Jinnah Colony as Case study.
The work on OPP has been valuable learning experience for my thesis and practicle implementation with the settlement dwellers eventually .
