Politics 1981

The sun has set beyond the city

but the sky is not ablaze with crimson

the south-west wind from its African home is angry

and the seas are rough.

the gulmohars have blossomed and the acacias are bare

the seasonal flowers dead

all this means the birth of summer

another season of heat

another period of waiting

and the growing awareness

of an absence of a political activity

that can free our minds

from fear and suffocating tradition.
